Huddersfield Town has announced plans to take 'full control' of the Huddersfield Town Women's First Team from the start of the next season.

At the moment the Terriers women are run as an organisation separate to the main men's team, although both share the same kit and badge.

However club Chairman Kevin Nagle has now confirmed the team will be integrated into the wider club, giving the National League Division One North squad access to extra resources.

Talks are ongoing over whether to also integrate the Huddersfield Town Women's Academy, which will continue to operate as a separate entity for now.

Huddersfield Town Chairman Kevin Nagle said: “Since our arrival at the club two years ago, we have held a strong desire to incorporate Huddersfield Town Women as part of our wider operation here alongside the Men’s First Team and rapidly growing Academy."

"We’re now in a position to begin that exciting process.

“A serious, long-term vision that will begin with the Women’s First Team joining the club, this is the very first time our relationship has gone beyond a service level agreement that allowed for the use of our club name, brand and colours, and I’m proud that we’ve taken the first steps on this progressive journey forward.

“While we are happy to bring the sides under one umbrella, the teams will have specialised staff and entirely separate budgets.

"My investment in the women’s team is a new one; it is not linked to the men’s team budget in any way.

“Over time, we will seek to grow the side, putting them in an even better position to compete and succeed. Ambitions will continue to grow both on and off the pitch."
