Dewsbury man handed nine year sentence after setting fire to flat

A Dewsbury man is starting a nine year prison term for setting fire to a flat in the town earlier this year.
52-year-old Shaun Robinson, of no fixed address, admitted a single charge of arson at Leeds Crown Court on June 30 and was sentenced earlier today.
It comes after he broke into a property on Thornhill Lees on March 27 and set alight to the living room, causing substantial damage and putting families living nearby at risk.
He was arrested a few hours after the blaze.
PC Bolton of West Yorkshire Police, said: “Robinson committed a disturbing and dangerous act which could have turn out much differently for those involved."
“The flat Robinson attacked was adjoined with three other properties, one of which a young child was residing in. Had the blaze got out of control, there would have been a serious risk to life.”
