Veteran Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Chris Maxwell has announced his retirement from football, due to a persistent hip injury.

The 34 year old Welshman joined Wrexham at the age of 10 in 2000, going on to play for Fleetwood, Cambridge United, Preston, Charlton, Hibs, Blackpool and finally Huddersfield Town.

The goalie has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Town since joining on a free transfer in 2023.

His ability to train and play is said to be 'limited' by a hip injury, which is why he's decided to call time on his on-pitch career.

He will continue community work for the club.
