A TIP that was controversially closed by Bradford Council earlier this year has gone on the market.

The Council owned Ford Hill tip in Queensbury site has been listed for sale at £750,000 – with the estate agent describing the site has having “potential for residential or commercial development.”

The household waste site was one of three that were shut by Bradford Council as part of cost cutting measures earlier this year – along with Sugden End in Keighley and Golden Butts in Ilkley.

There had been huge opposition to the closures, with residents arguing they would now face lengthy round trips to dump their waste.

There were also concerns that there would be a spike in fly tipping from residents becoming frustrated by the lack of a nearby tip.

At the time the Council said the three closures would save £900,000 a year.

Estate agents Mark Brearley & Co describes the tip site, on Hill Lane End, as: “A large yard/depot extending to approximately 0.45 hectares (1.04 acres) with potential for residential or commercial development – subject to planning permission.

“The surrounding area is predominantly residential in nature, although nearby, is the large Shibden Head Academy and also Trinity Academy.”
