Man jailed for 5 years over Batley knifepoint robbery
It's after a man was robbed of a small amount of change last December
A Kirklees man has been jailed for five and a half years after robbing a man at knifepoint in Batley.
36 year old James Dransfield admitted to robbery and possession of a blade following the incident in the early hours of December 13 last year.
A man was approached by another man on Bradford Road in Batley, before being forced to hand over spare change.
Dransfield was quickly identified as a suspect and arrested.
PC Caitlin Smith, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “Reducing knife point robbery is a priority for West Yorkshire Police, and we welcome the conviction and sentencing of Dransfield today.
“We hope seeing this man off the streets will reassure the victim and make clear that this sort of offence can carry a significant custodial penalty."
