Travel companies say searches for flights have soared after Rangers booked their spot in the Europa League final last night.

Skyscanner says it saw an 82% spike in traffic on its website at 10pm on Thursday, just minutes after the final whistle went at Ibrox.

Rangers won the nail-biting second leg of their semi-final against RB Leipzig 3-1, to send them through 3-2 on aggregate.

They will face Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville on May 18th.

Skyscanner told Hits Radio: "We’ve seen an increase in traffic to skyscanner.net last night with a +82% increase in travellers searching for flights at 10pm on our UK site and app.

"This is comparing search volumes to the same time last week.

"We can only see searches on a UK whole level to all destinations, but there was a definite spike in activity."

While travel agents say they are "inundated" with enquiries.

'Exceptionally high demand'

Barrhead Travel says it is considering chartering flights to get supporters to Spain.

Jacqueline Dobson, President of Barrhead Travel, said: “Overnight, we have been inundated with demand from Rangers fans looking to head to Seville to celebrate their team’s success.

"As demand is exceptionally high for Seville, we’re being creative with our packages and have offers available into the surrounding areas such as Malaga and Faro which will allow easy access into Seville.

“This is a momentous occasion for fans, so we anticipate that demand is only going to continue rising.

"We’re therefore looking at what else we can do for our customers: one option is chartering flights and we are currently pursuing this as an option."

Speaking after the match, Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst said he was expecting a huge travelling support in Spain.

He joked: "Everywhere we go, we have very loyal supporters.

"I don't think it matters how many hours they have to fly, or walk, or go with the bike, I don't know, maybe swim?

"We have great support everywhere, and I think it is very important for the club."
