Prayers have been held in Lancashire for teenager Jay Slater, who has gone missing in Tenerife.

The 19 year old, from Oswaldtwistle, hasn't been heard from since Monday when he called a friend and said he was lost in the mountains.

The Oswaldtwistle community have now united to show support to Jay's family, with blue ribbons tied to trees and railings throughout the town to raise awareness of his disappearance.

A service was also held at West End Methodist Church last night.

In a post on a Facebook group, the organiser said: "No matter where you are at 8PM. Put your hands together and ask our Father for his help.

"Jays family is from the West end and the community is very close knit and filled with love for each other"

Search teams on the island are continuing their searches for a fourth day.

The walk from Rural de Teno park, his last known location, to the south of the Spanish island, would take around 11 hours on foot.

Search teams refocused their efforts on Thursday in the north of Tenerife, where Rural de Teno park is located, after discounting a potential lead in the south of the island, the BBC reported.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: "We are supporting the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities."
