Nando's forced to temporarily close stores after running out of chicken
National shortage leaves Nando's without chicken at some restaurants.
Nando's has had to temporarily shut 50 of its 400 outlets after running out of chicken.
The food chain says supply shortages are widespread across England, Wales and Scotland.
The company has said it will lend some of its staff to its suppliers to help "get things moving" again..
Responding to upset customers on Twitter, Nandoâs described the situation as âa bit of a âmare'â.
The restaurant said: âThe UK supply chain is having a bit of a âmareâ right now.
âThis is having a knock-on effect with some of our restaurants across England, Scotland and Wales.
âWe are doing everything we can to get the peri-peri back where it belongs â on your plates!â
In another tweet, the restaurant, which serves Afro-Portuguese inspired chicken dishes, apologised for the âdisappointmentâ and said suppliers could not keep up with âdemand for peri-periâ.
Nandoâs said: âWeâre sorry for any disappointment caused.
âOur suppliers are struggling to keep up with demand for peri-peri. Meaning that some of our restaurants have had to temporarily close to restock.â
