Police have charged a man with murder after a woman was found dead in Smethwick, Sandwell, on Monday morning (11 Aug).
Shara Miller, 41, was discovered off Woodburn Road at around 6am. It is believed she died hours earlier.
A forensic examination has determined she died of strangulation at the scene where she was found.
Detective Chief Inspector Alastair Orencas, from the Homicide Unit at West Midlands Police, said: "This charge is a significant development in our investigation which remains very much ongoing.
"Our focus is on getting justice for Shara and her loved ones, and it's important that anyone with information which could help us comes forward.
"We've been carrying out enquiries in and around Soho Road, Birmingham, where it's understood she was involved in sex work, and we really want to hear from anyone who may have seen Shara on Sunday evening or early Monday morning.”
Detectives are particularly interested to hear from anyone who knows of Shara's movements before 1am.
Tanveer Singh, 31, from West Bromwich, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with her death and was charged yesterday (13 Aug).
He has been remanded to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.
Two other men who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been released with no further action.
Extra police patrols have been put in place on Woodburn Road and Soho Road.
