Jordan Henderson plays one of the biggest football games in the world tonight as England take on Denmark in the semi-finals of Euro 2020, the good news is his former PE teacher is backing him!

Henderson has already had a huge amount of success, he's captained Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League success, but tonight he's part of the England team gearing up for their first semi-final in 25 years.

Jordan Henderson's old school is backing him all the way

Jordan Henderson grew up in Sunderland and has been the talk of his old school Farringdon Community Academy, after bagging his first England goal in the four-nil win over Ukraine in the quarter-finals.

It's unknown if Hendo will start in the semi's tonight but his former PE Teacher Dave Robinson who still teaches at Farringdon told our sister station Metro Radio that he couldn't be prouder of his former pupil:

Dave told us:

"The school has been buzzing with how well all the lads are doing and especially Jordan being a former pupil. I was so pleased for him the other night when he got his goal, his celebration was just pure emotion and he fully deserved it."

After starting his career in Sunderland Henderson has went on to become a household name at Liverpool, captaining the team to Champions League and Premier League success in back to back seasons.

He was also awarded an MBE earlier this year for his services to charity, raising over four million pounds for the NHS during the pandemic.

Robinson says he's become a role model for pupils at school and for many of them he's their favourite footballer:

"Jordan has become someone for our pupils to look up to, he really is an example of what you can achieve if you put the right amount effort and attitude into something, he's truly a great ambassador for the school. Back when I was teaching him he was great lad and I still keep in touch with him. He was just a great person to have around the school and I know I speak for all the staff when I say we hope England go all the way to the final and bring the trophy home."

England favourites to advance to the final

England haven't conceded a goal in Euro 2020 after their first 5 matches, becoming only the second team to do so at a World Cup or Euro, the first being Italy in World Cup Italia 90.

Oddly the Three Lions are favourites to advance to their first final since 1966. However, Denmark have shown incredible strength and are motivated more than ever to win the Tournament for Christian Eriksen who collapsed suffering a cardiac arrest in their opening game against Finland.

Some of Farringdon's Year 7 pupils who'll be getting right behind Henderson and the team tonight gave us one clear message:"COME ON ENGLAND!"

England vs. Denamark gets underway at Wembley at 8pm tonight.
