The family of Lancashire teenager Jay Slater say that his funeral procession to the Accrington Crematorium will be a "celebration" of his life.

The teenager from Oswaldtwistle sadly died whilst on holiday in Tenerife on 17th June 2024, aged 19.

Jay was an apprentice bricklayer, who loved attending music festivals, socialising with his friends, meeting new people and playing football.

The 19 year-old, was attending a music festival on the Spanish island of Tenerife when he went missing.

After missing the last bus back to his accommodation, he opted to walk from the festival site, a journey that would have taken him a total of 10 hours.

Slater was declared missing after he failed to make it back to the accommodation, with friends saying that he only had 1% battery charge on his phone when they last made contact.

A large search operation was carried out by Spain's Guardia Civil on the island, with a particular focus on the village of Masca, where Jay was last seen.

Following weeks of searches, Jay's body was found in a ravine; a post-mortem found that he had suffered traumatic head injuries, consistent with a fall.

Slater's body was taken to his hometown of Oswaldtwistle in Lancashire, for his funeral to take place.

His family has paid tribute to those who helped to find Jay, and said that his funeral procession will be a "celebration" of his life.
