Our annual campaign to make sure no child goes without a gift under the tree at Christmas has received almost a quarter of a million applications on behalf of disadvantaged children.

Cash for Kids, which runs Mission Christmas every year, says the numbers have never been this high so early in the campaign.

Launched on November 14th, the charity has already received more than 237,000 requests for gifts, and that's before we've even entered December.

Huge demand for Mission Christmas

Mission Christmas supplies gifts to children and young people aged 0-18, and the cost of living crisis means our services are in demand like never before.

Families hit by rising fuel bills, inflation at the shops, or those struggling with home insecurity are just some of the people we need to help.

Others are fleeing domestic violence, or have lost their homes because of debt.

Becky has applied for gifts on behalf of an organisation that provides temporary accommodation for families who're seeking asylum, escaping abuse, or struggling with their finances.

She told us: "For those families, having a present to open on Christmas morning makes a massive difference.

"For some parents, not being able to provide a present for their child is distressing, when they're already in crisis. (Mission Christmas) takes the pressure off the parent and the child is just over the moon with it."

"The generosity is overwhelming"

She added: "The generosity is overwhelming, every year we're blown away with the presents that come through for the children.

"Being able to provide a child with a present is just amazing and we just want to thank Mission Christmas so much for everything they do for our families each year, year after year."
