The Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally stabbed near the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Officers were called to Northumberland Park in the early hours of Sunday morning (April 7th), after a man was found to be unresponsive.

When responders arrived at the scene, paramedics from the London Ambulance Service gave him immediate medical treatment.

However, having discovered multiple stab wounds on the man, CPR was performed to try and resuscitate the man.

Despite their best efforts, however, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene and the force opened a murder investigation.

Following initial enquiries, police believe that they know the victim and looking to inform his next of kin.

No arrests have currently been made, but the investigation is ongoing as officers try to piece the events that led to his stabbing together.

Speaking on the incident, Chief Inspector Stephen Johnston-Keay, who polices in Haringey paid tribute to the victim and wished he and his family well during this sad time.

"I can assure local people that specialist detectives are investigating and will leave no stone unturned in working to establish what happened to him, and to identify and arrest those responsible," he added.

"I would like to thank local people for their patience and understanding while we go about this crucial work."

He also appealed for any information that could help investigators in their search for the person who carried out the attack.

"If you have information that could help us, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please tell us. You will see officers on the cordons and on patrol and they will be ready to listen to you."

Anyone who may have any information that is relevant to the case can get in touch with the force by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 1387 from April 7th.
