Boys voluntarily interviewed after hedgehog death in Hartlepool

Two 12 year old boys have been interviewed by police in Hartlepool after a shocking video, posted online, reportedly showed children using a hedgehog as a football.

The video, which appears to have come from private CCTV, was taken on just before 10pm on Monday the 22nd of July on Erskine Road.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said:

“On Monday 29th July, two twelve-year-old boys were interviewed voluntarily in relation to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. A third boy has been eliminated from the enquiry. Both boys will now be referred to the Youth Offending Team.”
