Teenager arrested in connection with large fire in Hartlepool

It happened last weekend at the disused Odeon building on Dent Street

An investigation into the cause of a fire in Hartlepool has led to the arrest of a 15-year-old boy.

Enquiries by Cleveland Police are ongoing alongside from Cleveland Fire Brigade at the disused Odeon building on Dent Street.

The huge blaze happened at around 10:50pm last Saturday (5th October).

Although it's not yet known whether it was deliberate, police enquiries led to the arrest of the boy on suspicion of arson yesterday (Wednesday 9th October). Officer say the teenager has since been bailed.

The building remains cordoned off due to significant fire damage and road closures remain in place. Officers from Hartlepool CID are appealing to anyone with information or any footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 191629.
