Two men arrested following rooftop standoff in Stockton-on-Tees
The incident took place following an incident late on Friday night
Cleveland Police have arrested two men in connection with a violent incident that led to a rooftop standoff in Stockton-on-Tees.
Officers were first called to an incident taking play on Ingleton Road in the Hardwick area of the town just after 10pm on Friday evening (July 19th).
The incident had been particularly violent, with one of the suspects in the incident fleeing the scene.
As enquiries were carried out to establish the cause of the initial fight, officers discovered that one suspect had been seen at a property on Knitsley Walk, close to where the attack took place.
When responders arrived at the property, a man climbed onto the roof of the property and refused to come back down.
Police were at the property throughout the course of the night, before the man relented and came down from the roof at 4am on Saturday morning (July 20th).
The incident was confirmed by police to have come to a safe conclusion, as officers continued their investigations.
Following the run-in, a 35-year-old man was arrested on counts of assault criminal damage and harassment.
A second man, aged 18, was also arrested on the count of the obstruction of an emergency worker.
