There could be some disruption on the roads in Stockton this week - as Northern Gas Networks carry out essential maintenance work.

They say the ageing metal pipework is now being replaced by new, more durable, plastic pipes to ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers now, while getting the network ready for the future.

The work on Norton Road will start on the 15 April working on the odd side of the road between properties 305 to 371. It has been planned in collaboration with Stockton Borough Council.

So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some traffic management measures will be put in place.

As of the 15 April there will be multi way lights in place on Norton Road from the junction of Derwent Street to Wesley Place for four weeks. Please allow extra time for your journey.

Nigel Pearson, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it is vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to the residents of Stockton."
