A man and a teenager have been found guilty of attempted murder, after a man was seriously injured in a stabbing at Middlesborough bus station.

An 18-year-old was hurt on Monday 20th November 2023.

21-year-old Mohammed Amin Geravandian and a 17-year-old teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will be sentenced on 1st August.

A court heard the serious injuries their victim sustained will have a long-lasting impact upon his life.

Detective Inspector Chris Pringle of the Homicide and Murder Enquiry Team said: “I want to praise the victim and witnesses in this case, whose bravery in standing up to give evidence has enabled us to secure this conviction today.

“This case highlights just how devastating carrying a knife or a bladed weapon can be. A split-second decision can leave a victim seriously hurt, or at worst can kill them.

“You can surrender weapons to amnesty bins at all of our main stations – Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar and Hartlepool – no questions asked. This would be the first step to prevent more people from getting hurt.”
