Cleveland Police arrest man in connection with Middlesbrough rape

The 30-year-old is currently being questioned by police officers

Cleveland Police have confirmed they have arrested a man in connection with the rape of a woman in Middlesbrough.

The woman had reported the sexual assault after walking through Albert Park in the town at 4am on Wednesday morning (September 14th).

Following the incident, police launched an investigation into the attack, whilst the woman was being supported by specially trained officers.

The force have now confirmed that a 30-year-old man who is local to the area has been arrested.

The attack took place in the Albert Park area of Middlesbrough on Wednesday morning.

Officers say that the man was brought to the local police station to be remanded in custody as investigations continue.

Currently, the man remains in police custody and is being questioned by officers as lines of enquiry are looked into.

Meanwhile, the force has asked that anyone who may have any information that could lead to new discoveries can get in touch as soon as possible.

Those who may have been in the area at the time of the attack, or may have CCTV footage of the area around the park are being particularly urged to come forward.

Anyone who may have relevant information is being asked to contact the police by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 175064.
