Three men remain in custody after attempted murder in Grangetown

Three men remain in custody after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder near Middlesbrough.

Officers received a report that a man had been injured on Griffiths Road in Grangetown at around 9:50pm. His injuries are believed to have been caused by a firearm.

The 21 year-old man remains in hospital receiving treatment for serious injuries. These are not believed to be life-threatening.

Three males aged 42, 44 and 52 remain in custody at this time whilst enquiries continue.

Police do not believe there is any threat to the wider public and reassurance patrols are being carried out.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Snaith, from Redcar & Cleveland CID, said: “This incident will have caused concern in the local community and we are providing highly visible patrols in the area to reassure local residents. These patrols will continue over the coming days.

“We don’t believe that there is any threat to the wider community and we’d like to ask people to contact police on 101 if they have any concerns or any information.”
