Man suffers serious arm injuries in suspected dog attack in Middlesbrough

A man's suffered serious arm injuries after a suspected dog attack in Middlesbrough.

It's thought to have happened at an address on Mayfair Avenue on Monday night (13 May, 2024)

Cleveland Police have confirmed a dog - an Akita type - has been seized.

A 37 year old woman has been arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control.

Cleveland Police released this statement:

'Police in Middlesbrough have today seized an Akita-type dog and arrested a 37-year-old woman on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control.

'This comes after police were called to an address on Mayfair Avenue at around 8pm last night, Monday 13th May.

'A 26-year-old man sustained serious injuries to his arm and he is still receiving treatment in James Cook University Hospital.

'The dog was seized and is currently in a secure police facility whilst the woman is questioned and other enquiries continue.'
