The MP for Hartlepool says he is more than happy to meet with the dad of a toddler who has been missing for more than 40 years.

Richard Lee has been fighting to find out what happened to two year-old Katrice since her disappearance in Germany in 1981.

Jonathan Brash, Hartlepool MP, said: "I haven't met with them yet but I'm very keen and happy to of course. It's been a whirlwind but I'm back in the constituency now. I'm very happy to meet as it's a very tragic situation.

"I'll support him in whatever way I can. Obviously it's incredibly difficult and a challenging situation, but my door is always open to every constituent of Hartlepool to support them in whatever way I can. I'll certainly be very happy to meet and do what I can to help.

"I'll try and help arrange whatever meeting is necessary. I can't promise anything on the radio as there are lots of steps to go through, but I can certainly promise that I'll meet with him and if I can arrange further meetings that are of use to try resolving the situation then of course, yes I'll do that."
