Cleveland Fire Brigade are urging youngsters NOT to climb into parcel lockers after an almost tragic incident.

A child became trapped in a locker at a car park in Redcar on Sunday 9th Feb, a call came into emergency services just in time.

Firefighters arrived swiftly at the scene and forced open the locker door. With no ventilation inside, the child's oxygen levels dropped dangerously low. Crews provided emergency oxygen therapy and ensured the child received further medical attention.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Fire Brigade said:

"This could have been fatal. The message is clear - never climb inside a confined space or a parcel locker.

If you spot an open or damaged parcel locker, please report it to the provider immediately to prevent potential risks."
