3 charged after imitation gun and police uniforms discovered in car

Cleveland police are investigating, after 3 men were arrested for having a fake gun and items of police uniform - in West Yorkshire.
Three men have been charged with possession of an imitation firearm, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of an article of police uniform following their arrest on Wednesday 2nd April in the town centre of Castleford.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police had stopped a vehicle which was acting suspiciously. Upon searching the vehicle, the officers found various items in the boot, including items of police uniform, a police-style baton and an imitation firearm.
The three men inside of the vehicle were arrested, and the investigation was passed to Cleveland Police for Hartlepool detectives to progress due to links with another current investigation.
A 33-year-old man has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm, possession of firearm whilst prohibited, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of an article of police uniform. He was also returned to prison on recall.
Two other men aged 33 and 31 were also charged with possession of an imitation firearm, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of an article of police uniform.
All three appeared before Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4th April and were remanded in custody until their next hearing.
