Armed Forces Day is being celebrated in Seaham
East Durham Veterans Trust tells us more about the annual event
A County Durham veteran support charity tells us that being part of the armed forces is something to be proud of.
It is Armed Forces Day today and celebrations are happening across the region, including in Seaham.
The charity say this weekend is an opportunity to celebrate and learn more about the military community.
Andrew Cammiss, CEO of East Durham Veterans Trust, said: "Armed Forces Day is more of a celebration.
"We're celebrating everything armed forces - army, navy, air force, royal marines - everything to do with the military basically and just celebrating everything that it's about.
He continued to say: "It's an absolutely amazing event that's ran every year.
"This year we have bands live on stage as well as stalls and a parade at the start kicking off at 12pm. The ice cream man is coming and there's going to be beers on flow.
"There will be something there for the whole family basically."
