Tawny Owl making 'remarkable' recovery after getting stuck in car grill in Suffolk
The bird was taken into the care of the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary after being hit earlier this month
A Tawny Owl is said to be making a 'remarkable' recovery after being hit by a car and getting stuck in its grill in Suffolk.
The bird got into trouble in the area of Laxfield and Heveningham on September 5, with the driver of the car only later realising the owl was still alive and was trapped.
The male Tawny was carefully freed and handed over to keepers at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary at Stonham Barns the next day.
Staff say he had a 'swollen head' and was unable to eat on his own for a few days, but is now making a good recovery.
The swelling has gone down and the animal has been moved to an aviary outdoors.
All being well, keepers will release him back into the wild in the coming days.
Stonham Aspall based Suffolk Owl Sanctuary has helped hundreds of injured birds since it was registered in 2001.
The charity runs a raptor hospital to help animals in need as well as a sanctuary open to the public.
