Sudbury man charged with arson following flat fire

A man from Sudbury has been charged with arson following a fire at a property in the town.

It happened between 7.30am and 8am on Sunday morning (Sunday 9 July) at a flat in Minden Road.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the blaze and evacuated residents of other flats in the building.

The targeted flat was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Following initial enquiries, officers arrested a man on Sunday afternoon in connection with the incident and he was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

42 year old Aaron Hubbard, of Minden Road, has subsequently been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 11 July.
