Stowmarket to get town rangers to tackle 'grot-spots'
The service will launch in the town later this summer
Stowmarket is to get town rangers who will tackle so-called 'grot-spots' in the area.
Mid Suffolk District Council has committed £50,000 towards the Town Council’s plans for the new service, which will launch in the town later this summer.
The Town Rangers will take on a number of responsibilities, including additional cleaning, tackling ‘grot-spots’ and improving the local environment.
The money will be spent on new vehicles for the service - including one kitted out with pressure washing equipment.

Cllr Teresa Davis, cabinet member for thriving towns and rural communities, said: “We’re delighted to be working with the town council to make this initiative happen.
“Stowmarket Town Council take pride in their place and we are keen to support towns and villages with new ideas to improve the local living environment.
"We think the rangers is an exciting initiative and we look forward to forming a closer working relationship for a brighter and cleaner town.
“Working in partnership with communities in this way, helping solutions to be delivered locally, is exactly what we want to do.”

Town Mayor, Cllr Terence Carter, said: “We are delighted to have received financial support from Mid Suffolk District Council towards the launch of the new Town Ranger service. "It should make a genuine difference to the appearance of Stowmarket in the years to come.”
The £50,000 will come from Mid Suffolk’s Thriving Communities fund, and be a one-off contribution to help fund the new vehicles and equipment.
The rest of the service is funded by Stowmarket Town Council, who will announce further details of the service later this year.
