Autism Anglia work to promote greater knowledge and understanding of the condition across the region.

The Charity is an independent charity that provides care and support to autistic children, adults, and their families in Essex, Suffolk & Norfolk.

They work to help individuals learn the necessary skills and strategies to enable them to realise their own strengths and abilities.

The charity also provide training, education, and information to both the public and professionals to ensure the condition is understood correctly.

Jo Keys & Hayley Greenhill from Autism Anglia spoke to us about autism in World Autism Awareness Week.

Jo told us more about the condition:

"Autism is a neuro developmental condition, it means that it effects the way someone processes information, it can also effect the way someone communicates and their understanding of communication. It's also an invisible condition, because you couldn't look at someone and see they have autism"

Like many other charities and service providers Autism Anglia has had to deal with the challenges presented by Coronavirus.

Hayley said:

"We've been a lot more imaginative especially with our awareness as well, so everything has been virtual for about the last year. We have had to cut back in some areas of the organisation and really think about the way in which as a charity we spend money and use our resources."

World Autism week is running until the 4th April. Today, 2nd April 2020 is World Autism Awareness Day which aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles that people with autism and others living with autism face every day.
