Police looking into the discovery of human remains in the River Stour in Sudbury two years ago say they've managed to track down two people - who they think might be witnesses.

Officers launched an appeal to trace the pair last month. They are now said to be helping officers with their enquiries.

Human remains were located inside two black bin bags in the river on August 27 2020, between Meadow Gate and Croft Bridge.

Police are treating it as a potential murder, although the victim has never been identified. The cause of death is unknown.

He is thought to have been aged in his late 50s or early 60s. He was likely of Northern European origin, was white and was around 5ft 9in tall.

He is believed to have died between 2008 and 2012.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone with infrmation to come forward, in particular anyone who has concerns for a missing male relative fitting the description of the body.
