After a successful trial - more people across Suffolk will now be able to access foodbanks for their furry friends

This comes as some pet owners struggle to take care of their animals due to the cost of living crisis - with some making the difficult decision to give them up.

In a bid to stop pet owners from having to make this heart-breaking decision, charity Blue Cross has teamed up with Pets at Home to launch pet foodbanks, which they say will be rolled out to their Suffolk stores.

The charity says its aim is for the foodbanks to be available in more than 450 Pets at Home stores by June.

Lyssa McGowan, Pets at Home chief executive officer, said: “As the UK continues to experience a rise in the cost of living, we know that pet owners will do everything they can to ensure their pets don’t miss out, but we also understand that some owners may be facing difficult choices as their finances become stretched.

“Blue Cross and Pets at Home believe no-one should have to face the difficulty of struggling to feed their beloved pets and know that our customers are keen to help wherever they can. This is why we are rolling out donation points across all of our Pets at Home stores, working together to make sure no pet goes hungry."

Chris Burghes, chief executive officer at Blue Cross, said: “Pets are part of the family and we’re really proud to have partnered with Pets at Home on this scheme to ensure we can reach as many pet owners in need as possible, and keep families and their companions together.”
