An investigation will take place later today into the cause of a fire at a thatched cottage in Great Green, Cockfield.

Crews were called at 3pm yesterday to the incident and at its height eight fire engines attended along with water carrier units.

On arrival, crews confirmed one detached thatched property fully involved in fire. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used main jets to tackle the blaze, establish fire breaks and carry out salvage operations.

UK Power Networks, Anglian Water and the Environment Agency have also been notified and attended to provide support.

No injuries were reported. Further updates will follow when available.
