A man has been taken to hospital following reports of chemical spillage at a pharmacy in Framlingham.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called at 9:29am today (Tuesday 18th March) to Framlingham Pharmacy in Market Hill, to a report of a chemical spillage.

When crews arrived they found no spillage had occurred, but a male worker at the site was complaining of feeling unwell after entering a cellar containing a number of bottles due to be taken away for disposal by a waste company.

The fire service say the site was evacuated as a precaution and a cordon was in place while crews, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the cellar to carry out checks using a gas monitor - which found there weren't any leaks and the scene was declared safe.

The man was taken to hospital by an ambulance for precautionary checks, along with another member of staff who also said they felt unwell.
