Man charged with manslaughter following Bury St. Edmunds assault

A 54-year-old man who has been charged with manslaughter following an incident in Bury St Edmunds last month, has made another crown court appearance.
Andrew Allen, of Severn Road in Bury St Edmunds, appeared at Peterborough Crown Court yesterday, Wednesday 27 August, following a hearing the previous day where he had been charged with manslaughter.
Allen had initially been charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm, in connection with an incident where a man was assaulted at St Olaves Precinct on Saturday 26 July.
The victim later passed away at West Suffolk Hospital. Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, he has been identified as Scott Lisney, aged 56, from Bury St Edmunds.
Allen was granted conditional bail by the court at yesterday’s hearing and a provisional trial date was set for 19 October 2026.
