Man charged with attempted murder in Ipswich

A 55-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, after a man was stabbed in Ipswich.

Emergency services were called at 8:45am yesterday (Thursday 26 June), to reports of an incident at a property on Station Street, where a man had sustained stab injuries.

The man, who is aged in his 40s, remains in hospital in a stable but serious condition.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service also responded to a fire at the same location, which was quickly extinguished.

Police arrested the suspect, who is known to the victim, at the scene in connection with the incident and he was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Samuel Huggins, of Station Street in Ipswich, has subsequently been charged with the following:

Attempted murder

Arson with intent to endanger life

Threatening a person with an offensive weapon

Huggins has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 27 June.
