Scottish Power has acquired a new site in Lowestoft, confirming it will be their new long term home for UK offshore wind.

The company are investing around £8 million to acquire and develop the site on Trinity Road – creating a permanent base to support the delivery of their offshore wind projects in the East of England.

The Trinity Road development will mainly provide a base for operations and maintenance teams working on the East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm, which is currently under construction.

East Anglia THREE will be ScottishPower’s biggest ever windfarm, and the second largest in the world.

When it comes into operation in 2026, it will not only produce more green electricity in the UK for the UK, but is expected to bring jobs, investment and opportunities to the area.

East Anglia THREE is also expected to produce enough homegrown green electricity to power the equivalent of more than 1.3 million homes, support more than 2,300 jobs during the two-year offshore construction period and over 100 roles in operation and maintenance over its lifetime.

You can find out more about East Anglia THREE on their website.
