An online fundraiser has been set up for Ipswich Witches rider Jack Thomas after he suffered a major pre-season injury blow last week.

Thomas suffered two broken vertebrae in his neck and two in his back after coming off his bike during practice at Scunthorpe.

It's so far unclear how long he'll be out for but he is unlikely to ride next season.

The 23 year old, originally from Norwich, signed for Ipswich earlier this year as a rising star, also joining Championship side Poole Pirates.

He raced for East Anglia rivals King's Lynn Stars last season.

A statement on a gofundme page created last week says: "Jack is remaining positive and hopes to be track side as soon as his injuries allow to support his teams.

"Any support that you can give to help him & his soon to be family of 3 would be massively appreciated, no matter how small."
