Ipswich Town has confirmed there was an incident at their training ground on yesterday (15 February), where flares were thrown over the fence adjacent to the players.

It said the flares caused signage on the fence to catch fire and in doing so put staff at risk.

The club says the police were called and an investigation is ongoing.

It comes after supporters' group Blue Action shared a video on Twitter showing a small group of people throwing flares and chanting.

It follows an increase in calls for manager Paul Lambert to be sacked.

In a statement from Ipswich Town, the club confirmed the group involved has since apologised.

Suffolk Police have confirmed they were called at around 10.30am yesterday morning.

Officers say those involved reportedly left the scene on foot, heading towards Rushmere Heath.

A search of the area was carried out, but police found no trace of any suspects and enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with any information about this incident or who saw anything at the time is asked to contact the Police quoting incident number 88 of Monday 15 February.
