Ipswich Town sign Manchester United defender Brandon Williams on season-long loan
The 22-year-old has made 51 first team appearances for the Red Devils
Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams has joined Championship leaders Ipswich on a season-long loan.
The 22-year-old made 51 appearances for his boyhood club after progressing through the academy to make his debut in September 2019.
Williams made just one senior appearance for United during an injury-impacted 2022-23 season and has now joined Ipswich on loan as he looks for regular first-team football.
Town are managed by former United coach Kieran McKenna, with former team-mate Lee Grant forming part of the Championship side's backroom team.
"Kieran was my youth-team coach at United and, from there, we have had a great relationship," the defender said.
"He has always had the standards of a coach at the top level and has had a big influence on me.
"He has always kept in touch with me to make sure I'm OK and I trust everything he says because he is great to learn off. I'm excited to work with him again."
Williams made five appearances in pre-season for the Red Devils and previously spent the 2021-22 campaign at Ipswich's fierce rivals Norwich.
The 22-year-old's Old Trafford deal expires next summer, although there is an option to extend by a further year.
