Two men arrested following suspected arson attack in Ipswich

Two men have been arrested by Suffolk Police following a series of suspected arson attacks in Ipswich.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service alerted police to an incident which involved a number of cars being set on fire in the Gainsborough area of Ipswich on Thursday evening (September 25).
Officers from Suffolk Police arrived at the scene at 10:50pm, and found that two cars that had been parked at Piper's Vale Academy had been set alight.
As well as this, a car on the junction of Landseer Road and Clapgate Lane, a transit van on Landseer Road and a minibus parked at Gainsborough Sports Centre were also set on fire.
Emergency services were called to the incident and all fires were later extinguished by the fire service.
Following initial investigations, it was revealed that all vehicles torched had been significantly damaged, with nearby buildings also being affected.
Some homes near to where the cars were set on fire were later evacuated, but were all allowed to return home shortly after, with no injuries being reported.
At around 2:30am, police confirmed that two men had been arrested on suspicion of causing arson with intent to endanger life.
Since then, the men have been taken to Martlesham police station where they will be questioned.
Meanwhile, officers are now appealing to the public to get in touch with any information regarding the suspected arson attacks.
