Ipswich sign Peterborough midfielder Jack Taylor
He's joined the Blues on a three year contract
Ipswich Town have signed Jack Taylor for an undisclosed fee from Peterborough United.
The midfielder, who is the Blues’ first summer signing, has joined on an initial three-year deal.
The 25 year-old started with the Chelsea academy and left Cobham to join Barnet in 2012.
The following year, aged just 15, he made his senior debut as a second-half substitute against Hatfield Town in the Herts Senior Cup.
His professional debut came in October 2016 when he featured in an EFL Trophy match against Norwich City.
With more than 100 league games under his belt, and having been a standout player for Barnet in the first half of the 2019/20 season, Jack joined Peterborough in January 2020.
Having made his Posh debut against Gillingham on 11 January, he then scored his first goal for the club against Wycombe Wanderers 10 days later.
Jack, who is pushing for his first senior Republic of Ireland cap having made seven appearances for the U21 side, made a total of 125 league appearances for Peterborough, including all 46 in the 2022/23 League One regular season.
He arrives at Portman Road with over 30 Championship appearances to his name as well.
“I’m over the moon to sign here,” Jack told the club.
“I’ve spoken to the manager on numerous occasions and I’ve not heard a bad word about him. I think the style of play really suits my game and I can’t wait to get the ball rolling.”
Manager Kieran McKenna added: “We’re delighted to have Jack in and he is a player who fits the culture we’re continuing to build here.
“He is hungry and wants to improve and he will bring qualities that add to the group.”
