General Election: Tories hold on to just two seats in Suffolk

It's been a difficult night for the Tories in Suffolk in the General Election.

They've held on to just two seats in the county - Matt Hancock's former West Suffolk seat and Central Suffolk and North Ipswich.

It's good news for Labour though, who have gained Suffolk Coastal - where former deputy prime minister Dame Therese Coffey had been an MP since 2010.

She'll be replaced by Jenny Ridell Carpenter, who's secured a majority of more than one thousand votes.

Bury St Edmunds, Lowestoft and Ipswich have also gone red.

New seat Waveney Valley has gone Green - with co-leader of the party Adrian Ramsay winning.

Significant changes

Former deputy prime minister Therese Coffey lost her seat at Suffolk Coastal, which she has held since 2010.

Jenny Riddell-Carpenter, who won, managed to overturn the 20,000 Conservative majority in the region, gaining 15,672 votes.

James Cartlidge, a former defence minister kept a hold of his seat in South Suffolk by around 3,000 votes.

In Ipswich Tom Hunt fell behind Jack Abbott by over 7 thousand votes.

Co-leader of the Green Party Adrian Ramsay secured a seat in Waveney Valley.

In his speech, he said people had made a "momentous and exciting decision" and they voted for "real hope and real change."
