The dates have been announced for the 2023 edition of Lowestoft's First Light festival - an arts and music event held to mark the summer solstice.

This year's edition will take place on the weekend of the 17th and 18th of June, with performances and activities planned across the South Beach area.

The 24 hour event, launched in 2019, brought thousands to the town last year.

Among the headliners for 2022 were drum and bass legend LTJ Bukem, world music group Kosmos, folk group Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys and London singer Juanita Euka.

Genevieve Christie, CEO of First Light Festival CIC, said: “We’re thrilled to announce our 2023 dates, along with exciting news on some of our upcoming projects.

"We hope that everyone in Lowestoft will have the chance to get involved with this year’s First Light, whether that is contributing to our parade, playing on a stage or soaking up the festival atmosphere and all it has to offer.”

Craig Rivett, of East Suffolk Council, said: “We are delighted that the First Light Festival is returning for another year, and our three-year investment of £500,000 demonstrates our commitment to the event.

"This is great news for Lowestoft and we cannot wait for another fantastic 48 hours on the beach.“
