A Suffolk pub and community shop has launched a fundraising appeal, to help them recover from a devastating fire that ripped through the building last night.

Crews from Framlingham, Debenham, Stradbroke, Eye and Halesworth were called to the Worlingworth Swan off Church Road at around 6:30pm last night (September 12).

The flames were brought under control around two hours later.

In a statement on social media, the owners of the Swan said: "The pub is relatively unscathed and will be re re opened on limited hours soon."

"Unfortunately the shop side has been totally devastated by the fire and the water putting the fire out.

"The entire shop (roof included) and stock needs restoring and replacing."

The blaze comes just a few days after the pub celebrated its first year of trading, after being shut for eight years.

The owners have now launched a fundraising appeal, as they look for £30,000 to carry out the necessary repairs.
