Bosses of Citizens Advice in Ipswich say they're struggling to cope with demand
"People are still suffering"
Bosses of a Suffolk charity supporting people with the cost of living crisis are telling us they're struggling to cope with demand.
As a result, the CEO of Citizen's Advice in Ipswich, Nicky Willshere, is urging our next Prime Minister to address inflation and make sure people can afford the basics: "There needs to be a recognition that people are still suffering as a result of the cost of living crisis and from Covid.
"People aren't recovering so quickly - they're still dealing with things like interest rates and the cost of food...
"Here in Suffolk we have large areas of depravation and we can't meet the demand coming to us.
"We know nearly a thousand phone calls a month don't get through.
"We haven't got the numbers to be able to meet demand."
"Prices are still going up"
Nicky would also like to see more done to help more people buy their first house and start climbing the property ladder: "There needs to be a housing strategy.
"We've seen an increase in national living wage which is really good, but you have to be able to afford things still... and prices are still going up...
"There need to be short, medium and long-term plans because housing is such a massive issue."
