Last updated 12th Nov 2021
Hits Radio celebrated the 25th anniversary of Spice Girls releasing their hit song 'Wannabe' and their debut album 'Spice', with an hour long special called SPICE UP YOUR LIFE hosted by Fleur East.
On 10th November along with playing the band's biggest hits, we shared conversations with the Spice Girls from our archives about their time together, as well as their rise to global fame.
Fleur was so inspired by the Spice Girls, that she rapped about them for this week's Rap Roulette, including some of the group's achievements as well as her love for them.
Fleur's Spice Girls rap lyrics:
Woooo!
Make way for these living legends.
The Spice Girls, YES.
Check it out.
The best selling girl group of all time
yeh you don't have to think twice it's the girls with the spice
Posh, Scary, Sporty, Ginger, Baby legacy is crazy
all around the world people loving all these special ladies
'96 when they burst onto the scene
'Wannabe' blasting through our speakers and on all our TV screens,
in our magazines back in the day meeting them was such a dream.
A proud groupie - they had their own MOVIE!
The whole globe was going mad for a bit of spice, every minute, every hour thirsty for that girl power.
Sold out shows, sold out tours, were killing it
first all five and then all four were bringing it.
25 years since their debut, multi platinum, breaking records, that's what they do.
Emma, Geri, Victoria and Mel x2
you icons, I salute you!
Any fools wondering who they are
I gotta make understand
If Posh Spice doesn't join a tour I swear I can't promise that I'll always be there!
They've given us everything
girl power can bring
and I swear
for all of the girl groups we have today
spice girls paved the way
to be there
yehhhh we love you
