Consultations to improve Staffordshire village
It's claimed Packmoor has a lack of shops and transport problems

People are being encouraged to have their say on improving a Staffordshire village.
Council leaders say Packmoor suffers from a lack of local shops, transport problems and a need for more housing. The council owns 75 hectares of farmland to the east of the village, which could be earmarked for investment as part of the improvement plans.
But council chiefs insist that they will listen to what residents tell them before they make any decisions.
The first consultation event will take place at Packmoor Community Hall, in Lorraine Street, on Monday, December 16, between 3.30pm and 6.30pm. Packmoor residents will have the chance to speak to councillors and council officers at the event, telling them what they think the priorities for the village should be.
Attendees will be able to fill in a survey, which is also being posted through letterboxes in Packmoor. An online version will also be available. Further events, also at the community hall, will take place on Monday, January 13, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm; and on Friday, January 17, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.
The council recently moved to debunk claims that there were plans to build 2,000 social houses in Packmoor, saying they were ‘completely inaccurate’. Posters making the claims, which included the council’s crest despite having nothing to do with the authority, had been put up around the village.
The council has hired consultants from Augarde to carry out a six-week community engagement in Packmoor.
