Arrests made after 40-kilos of cannabis seized in Staffordshire

The haul is thought to be worth £200,000

Two people have been arrested in Newcastle-under-Lyme after an estimated 40-kilograms of cannabis was seized.

Officers carried out a warrant at an address near Clayton Road yesterday (11 October) after the packages of drugs were intercepted outside of Staffordshire.

The package is believed to be worth around £200,000.

A 49-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to import a controlled drug of class B.

Staffordshire Police said it is continuing to target serious and organised crime across the county as part of Operation Target.

Since it was launched in May last year, officers have arrested more than 1,000 people suspected of drug and weapon offences.
