Masked Gunman Robs Stoke Shop in Night-time Raid

Police Appeal for information following armed robbery at Stoke-on-Trent shop

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an armed robbery at a convenience store in Burslem.

The incident happened around 8.40pm on Friday evening (11 April) at S H Groceries on Newcastle Street, when a man wearing a balaclava entered the store and approached the counter.

He placed a plastic bag on the till before pulling out a firearm and threatening the shop worker.

It is not yet confirmed whether the weapon used was a genuine firearm or an air weapon.

A brief struggle ensued, during which the suspect is believed to have taken a small amount of cash from the till before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported.

Forensic officers have examined the scene, and detectives are actively pursuing leads to identify the suspect.

He is described as white, aged between 22 and 25, and was wearing a black tracksuit featuring large white lettering across the groin area.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has relevant information to come forward.
