No wins for the Reds or the Blues this weekend

United frustrated by Stoke while City suffer first Guardiola defeat at Spurs.

It was a disappointing weekend for both the Blue and Red half of Manchester this week as City and United failed to pick up wins.

The Reds drew 1-1 at home to lowly Stoke City in a game which saw United miss a host of chances early on. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba were guilty of being wasteful in front of goal as the teams ended the first half at 0-0. Wayne Rooney who'd had to settle for a place on the bench was brought on in the second half alongside Anthony Martial who immediately put the Reds 1-0 up with a well taken goal.

That should have given United the points but Stoke weren't to be denied and pulled a late leveller back through Joe Allen to share the spoils.

City went to White Hart Lane looking to extend their lead at the top of the table and keep up their 100% league record under Pep Guardiola. It wasn't to be though as Aleksandar Kolarov put through his own net early before Delle Alli added a second for the home side.

Claudio Bravo saved an Erik Lamela penalty in the second half to give the Blues hope but it wasn't to be as Spurs saw the game out to emerge 2-0 winners.

The result leaves City top by a point above Spurs while United are in sixth place five points behind their derby rivlals.
